Adventist singles from across Jamaica Union Conference were challenged and inspired to follow God’s purpose for their lives at the fourth National Singles’ Convention themed, “Single with a Purpose,” held August 23-24, 2014.

Organized by North Jamaica Conference (NJC) Family Ministries Department, the event attracted approximately eight hundred persons, inclusive of One Hundred and Seventy singles who stayed at the NJC campsite and benefitted from the spiritual and social activities.

Pastor Dane Fletcher, Youth Ministries Director for East Jamaica Conference, in delivering the divine service message challenged the singles not to be pressured into marriage, but to follow God’s purpose.

“We must celebrate independence from the idea that singleness is a disease for which marriage is the cure. We must move on,” said Pastor Fletcher. “We must celebrate independence from the shackle of mounting pressures and be fully dependent on Jesus who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we think according to the power that worketh in us. This is a good time to celebrate the bounties of God’s super abundance. I am here today to remind you that your purpose exceeds partnership with a mere mortal; your purpose is of eternal longevity and it is of infinite magnitude. Your purpose is not ordinary. Follow Jesus and allow Him to realize your purpose.” Read More…
